At the LA Zoo

Updated: Apr 7

When we were going to the zoo, the sky was cloudy and it was very dark. We thought it was going to hail. Hail is ice that falls from the sky. It didn’t hail but it rained. When we got home from the zoo, the car was very wet. At the LA Zoo, I saw a big alligator mouth. It was made out of bars and fabric around the bars. Under the fabric are lightbulbs, making it light up.

At the flamingo exhibit, there were pretend flamingos that lit up.

There was a green tunnel that lit up, too. Nearby, there was a rainbow tunnel that changed color. It felt magical to go through it.

There was a butterfly garden and they weren’t real butterflies. They were just butterflies that were like sculptures. And there were butterfly shadows on the ground.

There was only one gorilla at the zoo that was lit up but we only saw the gorilla’s face, not the whole body.

Editor's Note: This exhibit is part of LA Zoo Lights: Animals Aglow, which runs until January 22, 2023. Click here for more information.
